My Experience

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Ridgewood, NJ.  It is my privilege to work with late teens (17 and older) and adults who are struggling with issues related to mood, anxiety or relationships and individuals who are having difficulty coping with the demands of their lives. I take an individualized approach to treatment with a focus on cultivating communication skills, self-awareness, self-compassion and self-care.

Trained in the traditional approaches of psychodynamic and family systems therapies, I received a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and completed an internship at NYU/Bellevue Hospital in 1998.

In 2014, I completed a 200 hour health and wellness coach and yoga teacher certification. Prior to March 2020, I volunteered in a partial psychiatric program teaching a weekly therapeutic yoga class. I currently teach a donation-based on-line mindfulness-based gentle yoga class through FLOW Yoga in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.

I was certified as a meditation teacher in 2021 and teach a weekly on-line meditation class free of charge on Thursdays from 8:30am-9:00am Eastern Time.

In 2022, I completed a three-year intensive training in Somatic Experiencing (SE), a body-oriented approach to working with trauma.  While SE is often used to address severe trauma, the philosophy and techniques are also helpful to individuals navigating complicated or difficult emotional experiences in their daily lives, as well as those who have trouble accessing their emotional states. When using SE in sessions, I work directly with the nervous system, inquiring about the person’s physiological experiences in the moment in order to help restore ease and provide relief from troubling symptoms.

In addition to my clinical practice and yoga/meditation teaching, I enjoy offering webinars and talks to corporate and private groups on various topics, including self-care, stress management, intuitive eating, emotional resilience, interpersonal relationships, and the integration of yoga, mindfulness and psychotherapy.

I graduated from NYU School of Law in 1989 and practiced corporate real estate law in New York City for two years prior to pursuing a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. Having taken the “leap of faith” required to move from the comfort of the familiar and expected path into the discomfort of the unknown, I bring a unique combination of life experience, clinical judgment and spiritual awareness to my work as a clinical psychologist, yoga instructor and meditation teacher.
